Spotlight on Savannah Bee Company

I met Ted Dennard, the Founder and Head Beekeeper at Savannah Bee Company, more than a decade ago, and I’ve sold his honey ever since that first meeting! I love the way Ted is educating people about the fascinating world of bees, sourcing pure honey from the finest beekeepers in the world, and that he’s selling highest quality honeybee products. His Savannah Bee Company has also founded the Bee Cause Project, a non-profit organization that engages students through observation-based learning within their own environments to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
 
During the holiday season this year, Menus and Music is offering several amazing varietals of honey from Savannah Bee.
 

Winter White Honey A sensational honey created when bees collect nectar from Rocky Mountain wildflowers, and beekeepers harvest the honey just before the first snowfall. The honey is intentionally allowed to crystallize, and then it’s whipped to a creamy, smooth texture. The honey is stored in a temperature-controlled “cold room” to help with the crystallization and to keep the beautiful, creamy white color. This process gives Winter White its unique color and luscious texture. The final result is a whipped honey that is silky, smooth, and creamy, with a texture compared to a "powder day" or "cinnamon bun frosting.” This subtle, velvety spread is something we look forward to every year! 
 
Tupelo Honey This is the honey that started Savannah Bee Honey! Ted Dennard, Savannah Bee Founder, learned beekeeping among the tupelo trees that grow on the Georgia-Florida line. With its distinct buttery flavor and golden green hue, Tupelo remains one of the most sought-after honeys in the world. This delicious rare, single-source honey is unique because it doesn’t crystallize. It is produced in two tiny regions in the U.S.: The Okefenokee Swamp and the Apalachicola River Basin.
 
Lavender Honey A wondrous honey harvested from a place where lavender fields grow as far as the eye can see and the honeybees can fly. These fields along the border of Spain and Portugal are lined with bee boxes during the blooming season of May. Many beekeepers think that lavender is the bee’s favorite flower because they produce such a prolific amount of nectar. This rich honey with mildly sweet floral notes is a European vacation in a bottle.
 
Acacia Honey With vanilla notes and a luminous pale hue, Acacia Honey has a delicate, soft taste and is recognized as one of the world’s best honeys. It’s also known for its distinct clarity and slow crystallization process. This exquisite honey is excellent in tea, a wonderful spread on toast and pastries, and delicious drizzled over cheese or yogurt. The honey is harvested from the acacia woods of Northern Italy and Hungary. There is an image of a bee gathering nectar from delicate, white Acacia blossoms at the top of this Spotlight.
