An Award-Winner from Tuscany
Tenuta Bartolina extra virgin olive oil by Antinori is an extraordinary Gold Medal winner from Tuscany! It’s produced on the Antinori estate of Bartolina in the hills of the Tuscan Maremma, a region dedicated to organic olive oil production on the southern Tuscan coast.
One of the outstanding characteristics of Tuscan cuisine is its simplicity, and many traditional dishes are made from just a few ingredients. Tuscans rely on the quality of the ingredients instead of complex preparations for their flavor-packed dishes. Two important ingredients in Tuscan cuisine are magnificent wines and olive oils, and Antinori is a renowned producer of both these products!
The Antinori family has been committed to winemaking since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined The Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. For more than 600 years the family has managed their wine business, made innovative decisions, and maintained the utmost respect for traditions and the environment. They are credited with creating some of the first Super Tuscan wines, including Tignanello in 1971, a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc. As Marchese Piero loves to say: “Ancient family roots play an important part in our philosophy, but they have never hindered our innovative spirit.” Antinori’s magnificent wines reflect their fundamental Tuscan character, which blends tradition, culture, agriculture, and the arts. The Antinori name and their vineyards and estates are embedded throughout Tuscany and Umbria.
Antinori produces superior extra-virgin olive oils based on the conviction that Tuscany is an area that’s highly suited for production of both wine and olive oil. Their new Tenuta Bartolina is a perfectly balanced extra virgin olive oil with medium intensity and a high level of antioxidants and polyphenols that have many health benefits. Refined, fruity, and organic, the olive oil has nuances of aromas and flavors and the lovely piquant finish of a top quality Tuscan olive oil.
Bartolina olive oil by Antinori is my personal favorite for great salads and for using as a finishing drizzle over soups, grilled foods, roasts, and other special dishes! Give it a try sometime this fall and during the coming holiday season. Buon Appetito!
